30 juillet My acheivements from the sat and sun tripIn a competition, it is the process that matters, and not the prize. -Kuan Rong+++
These few days were quite fruitful though tiring. I learnt a lot - Learnt about how to work as a team, and how to treasure people you love =)
Saturday was a long day... We had to wait for 3 hours before we could start our gaming competition (DOTA). We didn't have our usual 5 people, and we had Jian Wei to substitute for Gerald. Turn out to be a blessing in disguise =P We didn't have much training... Partly because I was involved in the China exchange program and partly because my teammates think they lost their interest in DOTA. However, it turned out that our coordination was way much better than Republic Poly, and so... we somehow entered the semi-finals...
When asked about what are the chances of winning for the NUS team in an online poll, the response was only... 12%, among the lowest of the 8 tertiary institutions T_T
The semi-finals was held on Sunday (Today). The moment we reached our destination, our only aim was... NEVER EVER LOSE 2 ROUNDS AND GET 4th!!! And they are so correct... because the 4th only gets and mp3 player, just like what the 5th-8th position gets for playing on saturday! (If we really get 4th, our trip will be so... wasted T_T) We played the 1st round against Temasek Poly and we lost really badly... Their skills were too overpowered... Totally no chance of winning them T_T
Our team never panic, though we lost the match. However, my mind and heart were actually quite uncertain.... Can we actually win something today??? Though uncertain, I didn't cast any doubts on my team-mates...
The last game was fighting for the 3rd and 4th position. It was against Ngee Ann Poly. I was extremely focused. I know I cannot afford to make stupid mistakes for this crucial match...
And finally, it turned out to be a victory, and special thanks to our team's great coordination. (Although I did some stupid mistakes in the game also. Haha.) So happy!!!
The prize I took was a samsung phone and a 512MB mp3 player. Also, we managed to be seeded into the top 16 of the "World Cyber Games" held on the 12th and 13th. Special thanks to all those who supported me and I am sure you know who you are =) 27 juillet Reorganising my thoughts. China Exchange students rocks! From this China exchange program, my most important aim was to put in my best efforts in making everyone feel enjoyable. Seems like I have accomplished my mission, and not only that, I made very good friends with the China students. In fact, I can quite confidently say that going to China will be a fun trip and I am so determined to go there - For the tour and my friends 一举两得 =)
Some very cute students I met and deserves recommendations =)
- Zhuang Jin - PAPAYA ~ Very quiet and shy, but a very special person. The way she acts, the way she presents herself, I will never forget about that. Best friend you have from this program would be Chen Cong and loves PAPAYA~ And although you claim that your mathematics is bad, your 24 points really stunned me... Really...Will remember your smile and your talents =)
Your chocolates indicate your presence in Singapore and I will definitely treasure it~
- Xu Ying - 老板娘~ Though I know her a very little in Hangzhou, but she became a great help to me here. Thank her for being able to account for the Zhejiang girls when I was messed up with other committments =p Loves to play majong and likes to interact with people, but as for classes.... No. 1 "Late/MIA" Like to give her the phrase: "Once she arrive = All present." Very out-going and cheerful girl~
- Mo Shengjiang - Rumours~ A person of great pride and very matured in his thinkings. Great person to be with since he treats me very well =p Has very strong determination to pursue further studies here and well, I am quite sure that he will strive to do very well. Thanks also for the chocs (Though you are biased towards girls. Just kidding =P)
- Chen Cong - PAPAYA ~ In Singapore, she is just a quiet person who likes to be with Stephanie but in reality, after chatting through msn, I can see that she is a rather interesting person also. Somehow can click, and do enjoy talking to her.
- Bi Qiong - 学姐~ The Queen of murderers. Nobody can guess that its her~ Maybe she is just too cunning =P A very unique person also and she has a friend that looks so much like her!! (Jiang Ying)
- Jia Jiang - jjj/ 姜妹~ Your bak gua advertisement is so... FUNNY! "Mousey" look with major in tourism. Definitely sure that she will excel in that major~ SO CUTE! Great friend of LiLi.
- Mo Peng - (No nick)~ Very friendly. Can still remember the 1st day he saw me. Immediately gave me his contacts and want to know me more. Very professional ~ The rest of the days, he really treat me as a good friend and I did have fun learning more about him =)
- Jin Hui Liang - 队长~ A man of great leadership and of course, always brimming with innovative suggestions. Likes to ask a lot of questions during lessons too! Remember his "LEO" personality and his 1st guess of my horoscope! Lead your way to be an entrepreneur! I support you!
- Ying Juan - (No nick)~ Remember the 1st day she already created a problem for me, by meeting her friend. Haha. But although she looks very fierce, she is actually very kind in nature.
I shall introduce more people in my next blog... Stay tuned =)
25 juillet Having a good rest =)It is important for one to have a good rest after being hyped up for a period of time. -Kuan Rong
Haha. It's not that I am very busy with my school work... In fact, having fun for 2 weeks straight can be quite tiring also... Right? Yesterday, I was having a good chat with some of the China students, and it seemed that they like this 2 week program a lot. And so... It seems that I have accomplished my mission~ YAY!!!
Chatting on the net took up most of my time at home yesterday and I am still currently trying to type chinese in the fastest possible manner -.-
My China friends - Keep in contact!
And my Singapore friends - Meet up someday! =)
24 juillet After the Summer Program...When you are enjoying yourself, time seem to pass so fast -Kuan Rong
That is my feeling of the program in one sentence. I have mixed feelings when the last group of the china students left the airport. Outside, I was laughing, but when they all left, I was actually quite sad. Today, when I passed the canteen and TV room, I do feel my heart aching.
But on the lighter note, I must thank all the china students for making this short 2 weeks a memorable one. I will never ever forget all of this.
One day, I will go China and visit them. I am determined! Photo album has good photos and are extracted from http://photo.163.com/photos/nusphotoshare/ and e-mails =p
Will continue to upload more photos if more people upload. So stay tuned =) 20 juillet Week 2 of China Exchange ProgramBefore I start babbling about my experiences with the China students in week 2, I feel that there is a need for me to apologise for not being to be in contact with my friends. (Including Ariane, Colin, Qinli, Esther++) Made too many promises but...so little done. =(
Week 2 for the Summer program on Entrepreneurship for the China students wasn't as simple as I thought. There was still a lot of planning that is required to be done since Gary and me are in charged of 39 students... If every student creates a problem, it is actually sufficient to make our hair turn white. =p
Of course... It doesnt mean that the China students are so annoying and so irritating! In fact, I like to be with them! My committment in this program is still there and I am actually quite accepted in the population of the 39 students though my chinese is really.... so horrible~
Maybe the tiredness doesnt really come from the program itself. Perhaps it is the playing of board games whole night with only 2 hours of sleep that is making me really sleepy. LOL. Guess I really need my 8 hours of sleep to see a really "happy" and "vibrant" me =pPp
Also, Happy Birthday Qiujie (18/07) and so many thanks for the barbeque food and the chocolate fondue~ Yuuummmzz and I really thought the jigsaw puzzle pieced from Wing and Charmaine soooooo.... suits you!
And... YAY! I found another private tuition! Extra $$$ and more networking (Since the mother works in NUS too!)
I feel... so blessed =pPp
16 juillet My trip with China Exchange StudentsIf you think there is nothing to do in Singapore, then you must have been dreaming.
-Kuan Rong
There has been so many interesting encounters during my past few days, from 090706 (Sunday).... But I am really beginning to love it =)
The first 2 days (Sunday and Monday) were really tiring. In fact, I couldnt even sleep! With the maxi cab calling me at midnight and 2am in the morning, how can u expect to sleep peacefully??? Too bad.... All the scheduled flights were different for the different China students, making me run up and down to fetch the students~ Was lucky that it was only a short part of the whole exchange program =p
I really liked to talk to the China students. They were really able to cheer me up after a sequence of unhappy events that happened during last week. I became what I was in the past... Felt happy of being appreciated by the students and lets hope that the friendship between us will last long.
The next few days were travelling to Singapore places of interest. To name some of the places were Bugis, Suntec, Orchard, Queensway, Esplanade, Sentosa +++
And yes! I must thank Gary for encouraging me to sign up for the Hangzhou summer program! If I havent signed up, I wouldnt be able to know these nice people in my life too!
And last but not least, must thank the great help from the rest of the team buddies, especially Stephanie, Siok Leng, Kelvin, Daniel Mack, Eng Khoon, Weiying, Charmaine, Ginny, Cherlene, Qiujie, Yan Fen, Peiting, Seng Fu,Cheow Hui and those who helped out but I forgot to mention. (Remember to scold me if your name not listed =p)
Always looking forward to the program and I think I will miss some of the students very much if they leave Singapore.... Just like what happened when Jin Tao left us in Hangzhou. 7 juillet IPPT dayIf you can run 100 meters in 30 sec, u can confirm pass the 2.4km
- PTI
Wow. I was so enlightened by his speech! I can easily complete my 100 meters in less than 20 sec! Even if I walk fast, I should be able to reach 30 sec right???
I took the chin-ups, sit-up, broad jump, shuttle runs with a breeze....
Ok... Now left the running. When the whistle blew, I ran, opening my legs wide. I was so motivated! I was actually among the leading group! In fact I was in front almost all the way till half-way where some people overtook me. I can safely say I was the top 20 lor!
Finally, I finished the "race." Almost vomitted but very satisfied. I was telling myself, if I still fail, I wont mind~
I DID MY BEST! The results came out.... and guess what....
I FAILED BY 20 SECONDS!
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Sianz 1/2
Although I say I wont mind but I was seriously quite sad T_T
WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After the whole event, I went to think about it.... Was actually quite okay after that because I know that all those many many people behind me also failed... So maybe is not that bad
Still... I wont give up this easily. I SHALL REVENGE and get that $100! |
